Blue Jays SP A.J. Burnett matched his season high with 10 strikeouts and walked two in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday at Oakland, but he had his two-start winning streak snapped. Burnett allowed three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits but fell to 5-5 after a pitcher's duel with Greg Smith.

A.J. Burnett won back-to-back starts for the first time this season and the Toronto Blue Jays avoided a three-game sweep by beating the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 on Thursday night. Burnett (5-4) gave up three runs and six hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out six. Burnett allowed just one hit through the first four innings but was touched for two runs and three hits in the fifth. Sean Rodriguez doubled home Casey Kotchman and scored on a double by Macier Izturis. A two-out single by Jeff Mathis tied it at 3-all in the sixth, but Lyle Overbay broke the tie with his third homer in the bottom of the inning, sending Burnett to the win.

Blue Jays SP A.J. Burnett turned in a strong performance at Philadelphia on Saturday, evening his record at 4-4. He allowed two runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out eight and walking three. Before coming out, he had retired eight of the previous 10 batters with five strikeouts. He threw 106 pitches. "I was just trying to mix it up, vary speeds and keep them off-balance as best I can," Burnett said.

Blue Jays SP A.J. Burnett lost a tight pitcher's duel Monday against Indians SP Fausto Carmona, and dropped to 3-4 after Cleveland's 3-0 win during Game 1 of a doubleheader. Burnett gave up three runs and five hits in 7 2/3 innings for the Blue Jays, who have been blanked in 22 consecutive innings. Burnett, who was scheduled to pitch Sunday before a rainout, allowed only one hit until Grady Sizemore doubled off the wall in right-center with one out in the sixth. Sizemore went to third on a groundout by Jamey Carroll and scored on David Dellucci's single. Travis Hafner drew a leadoff walk in the seventh and Asdrubal Cabrera followed with his first homer since Sept. 17. Burnett walked three and struck out seven.

The Toronto Blue Jays-Cleveland Indians game was postponed by rain Sunday and will be made up in a doubleheader on Monday. Sunday's scheduled starters, Toronto's A.J. Burnett and Cleveland's Fausto Carmona, are scheduled to pitch in the first game beginning at 4:05 p.m. Indians left-hander Cliff Lee, off to an impressive start this season, will face Shaun Marcum in the nightcap.

Burnett scattered three hits pitching into the eighth inning to lift the Blue Jays to a 3-0 victory over Boston on Thursday night. "I think as the game went on, he got stronger and stronger," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. Burnett (3-2) continued his mastery of the Red Sox, improving to 4-0 against Boston while allowing just one run in 16 innings over two starts at Fenway Park. Burnett struck out five and walked five in 7 2/3 innings. "My fastball was going everywhere tonight, which is a good thing," Burnett said. "Just a good 'W' for us to get back on track."
