Richard Durrett, of The Dallas Morning News, reports the Texas Rangers outrighted P A.J. Murray off the 40-man roster Wednesday, Oct. 1, which will make him a minor league free agent on the fifth day after the 2008 World Series.
Rangers released LHP A.J. Murray, RHP Brian Gordon, LHP John Rheinecker and LHP Bill White. The Rangers seemed to be pretty fond of Murray, but he never did return after going down in early June with a shoulder injury. Rheinecker missed the season following shoulder surgery. Anthony Andro, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Texas Rangers transferred P A.J. Murray (rotator cuff) to the 60-day disabled list Thursday, Aug. 7.
A.J. Murray has yet to throw since landing on the DL June 4 with a strained left rotator cuff, according to the Star Telegram.Murray was 1-0 over two starts this season, with 12 hits, three walks, and three earned runs issued over 7.2 innings. He is only worth holding on to in deeper AL-only leagues.
