Laffey shined briefly during a five-start stretch May (0.79 ERA) but inconsistency ultimately resulted in a demotion to Triple-A Buffalo. Keep in mind that it was his first real test in Cleveland's rotation. Another go-round should allow the 23-year-old left-hander to develop into a respectable No. 4 starter.
Aaron Laffey's sore elbow is back to 100 percent health, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. He has full range of motion again. If healthy, he could push for a spot in the Indians' 2009 rotation.
The Associated Press reports Cleveland Indians SP Aaron Laffey (elbow) was shut down due to inflammation in his pitching elbow.
Manager Eric Wedge said that Aaron Laffey had a spot in the Indians' rotation waiting for him once he healthy enough to return, but today's news on Laffey's elbow injury trumps Wedge's intentions. Laffey was not part of the September callups today. The reason he wasn't on that list is elbow inflammation that sprouted up in his last two starts at Triple-A Buffalo. According to the Indians' team website Laffey will miss the rest of the season. So much for the six-man rotation that Wedge had planned.

Laffey was conspicuous in his absence from the list of the Indians' September callups Tuesday. The reason he wasn't on that list is elbow inflammation that sprouted up in his last two starts at Triple-A Buffalo. The 23-year-old Laffey was on his game for much of his time with the big league club this year, but he began to run into serious trouble his last two starts. On the whole, he went 5-7 with a 4.23 ERA in 16 starts, but he gave up eight runs apiece in each of his last two outings, prompting a July 26 demotion to Buffalo.
None.
Numbers in parenthesis for each team indicates total runs scored that game. Numbers next to each pitcher indicates earned runs.
The run differential is based on total runs each team scored when Aaron Laffey has a decision. (i.e. win/loss) Similarly, the opposing pitcher listed also received a decision.
