The Cardinals were as efficient as any team in the league today, producing nine runs on 10 hits to get the 9-5 win over San Diego. The path to riches was led by middle infielder Aaron Miles , going 3-for-5 at the dish with his third home run of the season to post four RBIs and three runs scored on the day.Miles made it exciting, hitting the homer in the ninth with three men on to seal the deal. After hitting .337 last month, Miles is going at just .302 through July, but he has more than doubled his run production and seems to be working towards better power numbers as well (two homers in his last five games).

Aaron Miles continues to hit, and he went 3-for-5 with five RBI against the Pirates today. Miles collected a triple and home run on the day.If Miles can do anything, it's slap the ball around. His average is now .317, and though he will not provide power or many RBI (despite today's efforts), NL-only owners could do worse if they need a boost in average.

Aaron Miles has stretched his hit streak to 14 games. He entered Wednesday's game hitting .421 over his previous 13 games and is hitting .396 out of the two-hole this season.Miles is making a strong case to become an everyday player. It will be interesting to see what Tony La Russa will do once Cesar Izturis returns from the DL. Brendan Ryan and Adam Kennedy make four middle infielders on the roster.
