The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Minnesota Twins SS Adam Everett (wrist) took the field for batting practice Tuesday, Aug. 19, with his right wrist tightly wrapped, a souvenir of the foul ball that struck him a night earlier. He didn't get in the cage, however, and wasn't in the lineup.

Everett was struck on his right hand by a foul ball in Monday's game. Manager Ron Gardenhire said Everett is just sore, and could play in an emergency. However, the shortstop is expected to be held out of the lineup Wednesday as well. Brendan Harris got the start Tuesday night.

News: According to The Sports Xchange notes: Adam Everett continued his offensive up-tick Tuesday, driving in his sixth and seventh runs since returning from the disabled list July 30. That's as many RBI as Everett had in the 25 games he played before. Everett nearly lost his job as a Twin two weeks ago when Minnesota offered him a contemplative outright assignment to Triple-A Rochester, but second baseman Alexi Casilla's thumb injury left a place for Everett. With Nick Punto once again in an offensive funk, it seems Everett might be re-establishing his place as Minnesota's everyday shortstop. "He's making the plays," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "I think we're starting to see the guy we signed, almost healthy. We're getting a little bit of what we had hoped from the beginning. With Casilla out, we need someone to step up and play some good shortstop. He's done it the last couple of days."

Just two weeks ago, it appeared that there was no place for Everett on the Twins' roster. Now, he's quickly grabbing hold of the club's starting shortstop job. Although Everett hit just .189 over his first 25 games with the Twins, things have gone better offensively since he rejoined the Twins on July 31 after a stint on the disabled list. He's hitting .329 (7-for-23) in his last nine games.
