Carlos Pena won his first Gold Glove on Thursday, which just so happens to be the first Gold Glove ever awarded to a Rays player, according to MLB.com. Other infielders to win the award were C Joe Mauer, 2B Dustin Pedroia, SS Michael Young and 3B Adrian Beltre.Pena is a sweet fielder and he led AL first baseman with a .998 fielding percentage as he made just two errors on the season, meaning that he was completely deserving of the honor.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold reports Seattle Mariners 3B Adrian Beltre won the Fielding Bible award at third base, according the annual awards that are decided by a panel of experts and featured each winter in the Bill James Handbook.

Beltre played with a torn ligament in his thumb for nearly 1 1/2 years, which says a lot of about his toughness, and enters the final year of his five-year contract with Seattle. The last time he was in this situation, he had a career season for the Dodgers, batting .334 with 48 home runs and 121 RBIs.
