News: The Brewers purchased the contract of 3B Mat Gamel from Triple-A Nashville, recalled RHP Mark DiFelice, RHP Tim Dillard, 3B Joe Dillon, OF Tony K. Gwynn, 1B Brad Nelson, C Vinny Rottino and LHP Mitch Stetter from Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Also, they purchased the contract of C Angel Salome from Double-A Huntsville and recalled SS Alcides Escobar from Huntsville. To make room on the roster, they transferred LHP Chris Capuano from the 15-day to the 60-day DL and designated RHP Richie Gardner for assignment.

Analysis: Escobar is an elite infield prospect who has steals potential. He will be an impact player someday, but he is nothing more than a reserve for the Brewers down the stretch. He could steal some bags, but you won't get any other use out of him outside of the deepest of NL-only Rotisserie leagues at this point

Brewers recalled shortstop Alcides Escobar from Double-A Huntsville. The 21-year-old Escobar hit .328/.363/.434 with 34 steals for Huntsville, sending his stock soaring. No one has ever questioned his glove at shortstop, and if he can maintain even a modest average, he should be a quality major league regular. He might get a couple of starts if the Brewers can clinch early.
