Either of those two could take the rotation spot currently occupied by prospect Jonathon Niese. The Rays have shown a tempered interest in Mets reliever Aaron Heilman, which could provide the basis for a deal.

The NY Post states the Mets had preliminary talks with Rays' hurler Andy Sonnanstine. The Mets also inquired about Edwin Jackson.Sonnanstine would boost the Mets' rotation, as he held a favorable 1.29 WHIP over 193.1 innings for the AL champion Rays in 2008. Tampa Bay could afford to part with him, with David Price, Scott Kazmir, James Shields and Matt Garza still in their rotation.

News: The Mets and Tampa have had preliminary discussions about the Rays' pitching depth, notably Nos. 4 and 5 starters Andy Sonnanstine and Edwin Jackson, according to the the N.Y. Post. The paper reports Tampa has some interest in Aaron Heilman, but the Mets would have to surrender more to complete a deal.
Analysis: Sonnanstine and Jackson are sleeper for deeper mixed leagues if they are pitching for a contender. The Rays or Mets qualify. Among starting pitchers right now, though, they are not top 60 options in Fantasy
