News: The Brewers purchased the contract of 3B Mat Gamel from Triple-A Nashville, recalled RHP Mark DiFelice, RHP Tim Dillard, 3B Joe Dillon, OF Tony K. Gwynn, 1B Brad Nelson, C Vinny Rottino and LHP Mitch Stetter from Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Also, they purchased the contract of C Angel Salome from Double-A Huntsville and recalled SS Alcides Escobar from Huntsville. To make room on the roster, they transferred LHP Chris Capuano from the 15-day to the 60-day DL and designated RHP Richie Gardner for assignment.

Analysis: Salome is one of the Brewers best prospects, a nice long-term option for the catcher position, but he is nothing more than a long-term keeper flier or low-end reserve for the Brewers and the deepest of NL-only leagues down the stretch

Brewers purchased the contract of catcher Angel Salome from Double-A Huntsville. Salome figures to do little but sit and watch as the Brewers try to secure the NL wild card. The team's catcher of the future hit .360/.415/.559 with 13 homers in 98 games for Huntsville. He's likely to head to Triple-A for the start of 2009.
