It was a disappointing sophomore campaign for Butler, who spent a large portion of 2008 down at Triple-A Omaha. Don't dismiss him because of one lousy season, however, as the 22-year-old is capable of busting out at any point. His value only goes up from here.
Billy Butler went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over Minnesota. He hit two singles and a two-run homer. He snapped a four-game skid without a hit, and ended a 12-game drought without a home run.
Jon Krawczynski, of The Associated Press, reports Kansas City Royals DH Billy Butler recorded three hits, including a home run, Friday, Sept. 26.
It's been a quiet stretch for Butler, who entered the contest batting just .231 with one homer and seven RBIs in his first 52 at-bats this month. The streaky young slugger is batting .274 with 33 extra-base hits and 55 RBIs in 121 contests on the year.
News: DH/1B Billy Butler, who is hitless in his past 14 at-bats and hitting just .083 in his past 10 games, was held out of the Royals' lineup for the second consecutive game Sunday.
Analysis: Butler is a streaky young hitter who is finishing on the wrong side of things. He really needs to get hot before the end of the year, because he might be in danger of punching a ticket back to Triple-A to start spring 2009 at this point. Consider him a sleeper in Fantasy, but we might have to wait another year or two before his early round potential comes through
