Diamondbacks GM Josh Byrnes is expecting to have more contract talks with Brandon Webb this winter. Arizona pulled its last offer off the table in July or early August. Webb is under control through 2010. "I think we’ll certainly have communication and let him know where we are and assess where they are," Byrnes said. "I think that’s the reality of any contract on a timeline. The context always changes even if a player doesn’t. What do we need to do to keep building our club to be as good as we can and, from his perspective, what does (CC) Sabathia get? So there are a lot of checkpoints in assessing what works from both sides to make a deal and kind of what our alternatives are. Again, the good news is there has been a lot of discussion so far and we have him for at least two more years. We’ll see how it proceeds."Source: Arizona Republic
