Despite the poor showing, Wood remains one of the top young players for the Angels and could see plenty of playing time on the left side of the Angels infield next season. One such scenario could see third baseman Chone Figgins playing in the outfield to make room for Wood, who was the club's best hitter for the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees and played well down the stretch for the Angels.

Brandon Wood has been dismissed from his DWL team after hitting just .167 in 13 games. Wood was also released from his Mexican Winter League team last year after hitting just .152 in nine games. "We put weight on the winter-ball season, but we'll monitor how he is in spring training," general manager Tony Reagins said. The Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim IF Brandon Wood was released from his winter club in the Dominican Republic because he hit .167 with 16 strikeouts in 48 at-bats.

Brandon Wood was cut from the Dominican winter-ball club due to poor play, according to the LA Times.Wood was once considered one of the Angels' top prospects, but only hit .200 over 150 at-bats with the big-league club in 2008, with 43 strikeouts. He didn't display much power either with only five homers.
