Brian Bannister blanked the Tigers over six innings to earn a win as the Royals rolled to a 10-4 victory on Wednesday night. Bannister ends a tumultuous 2008 on a high note, holding the Tigers' powerful lineup to seven hits and a walk while striking out four. He finishes with a 9-16 record and 5.76 ERA. It'd be great to see him last as a major league starting pitcher, but he might need to head back to the National League in order to survive.

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Royals SP Brian Bannister threw six shutout innings Wednesday, Sept. 24, on his way to earning the win.

A much needed effort from Bannister, who was tagged by the White Sox for seven earned runs on eight hits when he last took the hill. Despite the strong performance, the 26-year-old righty has posted a 5.50-plus ERA in each of the last three months and finishes the season with a suspect 5.76 mark on the year.
