Paul Hoynes, of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Cleveland Indians have not ruled out reacquiring Milwaukee Brewers SP CC Sabathia, Boston Red Sox SP Paul Byrd or Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Casey Blake. "I wouldn't close the door on anybody. Casey certainly has a natural fit on our club next year. ... Byrdie still has the ability to pitch effectively at the back end of the rotation, but if we look at the back end of the rotation it's probably going to be the guys you saw pitch here this year," general manager Mark Shapiro said.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes reports the Cleveland Indians may try to sign Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Casey Blake in the offseason.
Indians' GM Mark Shapiro commented that the team may try to bring back Casey Blake, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Indians feel Blake is a natural fit, but that may not be the case if Jhonny Peralta ultimately moves to third base. Blake blasted 21 homers this season and is currently chasing a championship as the Dodgers are set to begin the NLCS against Philadelphia.
General manager Mark Shapiro indicated Tuesday that the Indians may attempt to re-sign Casey Blake. Shapiro traded Blake to the Dodgers in late July, but noted that he "certainly has a natural fit on our club next year." However, talk of moving Jhonny Peralta to third base would seemingly rule out a return for Blake, who hit .274/.345/.463 with 21 homers and 81 RBI in 152 games overall this season.Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer Related: Indians
