Red Sox recalled RHP Chris Smith from low Single-A Greenville. After electing to stick with 25 men on Monday, the Red Sox do make one callup today. Smith, who has been up and down frequently of late, has allowed six runs in 10 2/3 innings while in the majors. He'll be a middle reliever.

The Red Sox optioned Chris Smith to Triple-A Pawtucket Tuesday. The move was made to clear a roster spot for Tim Wakefield.Smith will likely be back up when rosters expand.

Red Sox optioned RHP Chris Smith to Triple-A Pawtucket. He goes back down to make room for Tim Wakefield on the roster. The Red Sox were also expected to play J.D. Drew on the DL and call up Joe Thurston, but that one isn't official yet.
