Jack Magruder, of the East Valley Tribune, reports Arizona Diamondbacks C Chris Snyder will be the starting catcher next season. He is likely going to command a salary of roughly $3 million in 2009.

A closer look shows Snyder was a much better "real-life" catcher than he was in fantasy. Look no further than his .348 on-base percentage and .452 slugging percentage, good for fifth-best OPS (.800) among National League catchers. Whether that's enough to fend off a younger Miguel Montero next year remains to be seen.

News: Diamondbacks C Chris Snyder went 1-for-3 with a run scored Saturday against the Rockies. He's batting just .217 since July.

Analysis: Snyder hasn't exactly broken out in 2008, but he does have 16 home runs in only 334 at-bats. He might continue to lose at-bats to Miguel Montero in 2009, so think of him as just a No. 2 Fantasy C

Chris Snyder went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in the Diamondbacks win over the Giants. Snyder put the Diamondbacks in the lead with his 16th home run of the season in the third inning - the one run was more than enough for Diamondbacks starter Dan Haren who shutout the Giants. The 2-0 victory kept Arizona with in 4 1/2 games of the National League West leading Dodgers with 12 games remaining in the schedule.
