Those of you who drafted Young based on 2007 numbers (32 HR, 27 SB) were surely left disappointed. That said, it's worth remembering that he's just 25 years old, so there's definitely room for improvement heading into 2009.

The center fielder hit safely in eight of his final nine contests to push his season-ending batting average to .248, his highest mark since May 25. The season was a disappointment overall for Young, who hit eight fewer homers and stole 13 fewer bases (down to 14) than in his rookie year.

Chris Young accounted for both RBI in Arizona's 2-1 win over the Rockies on Sunday. He hit a solo home run in the eighth and drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth.Young salvaged an otherwise bad season in the final two months by hitting eight home runs and hitting well above his .248 seasonal mark.

San Diego Padres SP Chris Young allowed one run on five hits over six innings Saturday, Sept. 27, against the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to The Associated Press. He walked none and struck out five, improving to 7-6 on the season.

Chris Young threw six innings and allowed one run in a victory over the Pirates on Saturday night. Young struck out five and walked none in another strong outing. He allowed five runs in his final four starts, lowering his ERA from 4.91 to 3.96. Health will be a bigger concern entering 2009 than his mediocre numbers from this year. He's an excellent pitcher, but he's 29 and he's still never thrown more than 180 innings in a season.
