News: The Twins acquired LHP Eddie Guardado from the Rangers in exchange for RHP Mark Hamburger on Monday. Guardado will aid a struggling Twins bullpen and help set up for closer Joe Nathan, while the Rangers will go to a bullpen committee perhaps headed by Frank Francisco initially.
Analysis: Guardado loses value because he won't be a closer now down the stretch. He is nothing more than a low-end middle reliever for the deepest of leagues that use true middle men in Fantasy Week 22 (Aug. 25-31)

Billy White has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma, according to the Dallas Morning News. He fills the roster spot for Eddie Guardado, who has been dealt to the Twins. The 29-year-old made his major league debut with the Rangers last season, while going 2-0 with a 4.82 ERA over nine relief appearances. He is only worth a look as a flier in deeper AL-only leagues that use middle men.

Guardado goes back to familiar territory in Minnesota, where he pitched from 1993-2003. The good news ends there, however. Leaving Texas all but crushes Guardado's value, as he goes from closer to setup man in one of baseball's best bullpens. His departure opens the door for Frank Francisco to emerge as the Rangers fireman. Francisco's strikeout stuff is ideally suited for the job, as evidenced by his 65 punchouts in just 52 1/3 innings. Other options include Joaquin Benoit and Jamey Wright, but expect Francisco to get the first shot.
