The Baltimore Sun's Dan Connolly and Jeff Zrebiec report Baltimore Orioles CL George Sherrill (shoulder) said he has felt no pain in his throwing arm but won't begin playing catch until January.

A saves machine through the season's first couple of months, Sherrill stumbled in July and suffered a shoulder injury that would ruin his second-half performance (6.59 ERA, 13 2/3 IP). While there's no legimiate threat on his closer job, inconsistency makes him a risky proposition for saves in 2009.

The Associated Press’ David Ginsburg reports Baltimore Orioles CL George Sherrill made his first appearance in nearly a month Sunday, Sept. 14, but was ineffective. “George looked rusty,” said Orioles manager Dave Trembley. Sherrill (shoulder) had been out for three weeks due to shoulder inflammation. “Everything felt good, nothing ever hurt or anything, so we’ll see how it bounces back from there and hopefully I’ll get better,” said Sherrill.
