A big bounce back effort from Snell, who was tagged by the Cubs for five earned runs over four frames in his previous trip to the mound. Snell has now turned in a quality start in four of his last five tries and is a sneaky mixed-league spot-start option when he takes his 5.59 ERA to Minute Maid Park for a date with the Astros next.
Ian Snell threw a good game for the Pirates, earning his sixth victory in the team's 3-2 win over the Reds. Snell gave up just one earned run in six innings of work.Snell is wildly inconsistent, and if he could ever remedy that, he might be an asset in fantasy leagues. Alas, that does not seem likely, at least not in Pittsburgh.

Snell surrendered a leadoff home run and then an RBI single in the second, but settled in afterward. Nate McLouth's RBI groundout in the the third put the Pirates on top 3-2, a lead that would stick for the rest of the game. Snell is 6-10 with a 5.59 ERA this season.
