Adam Kilgore, of The Boston Globe, reports Boston Red Sox OF J.D. Drew is hitting sixth in the batting order and playing right field in Game 5 of the ALCS Thursday, Oct. 16. Drew is 1-for-7 with a triple in his career against Tampa Bay Rays SP Scott Kazmir.
J.D. Drew will bat leadoff in Game 4 of the ALCS because Jacoby Ellsbury is being benched, according to MLB.com.Drew typically bats fifth in Boston's lineup. He was 5-for-29 (.172) in the leadoff position this season and he only has four stolen bases. This looks like a desperation move on the part of Terry Francona.

Manager Terry Francona said the reason for J.D. Drew's benching in Game 2 was not related to him getting beaned in Game 1. Drew was held out of the starting lineup for center fielder Coco Crisp, with Jacoby Ellsbury manning right field.
