Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two steals Sunday against the White Sox. Ellsbury also had three hits on Saturday, and the Red Sox have to be encouraged by the better at-bats he's had lately. Fantasy owners are simply thrilled that he's running again. He was 8-for-9 stealing bases in August after going 1-for-4 in July. Ellsbury leads the AL with 43 steals, three more than Ichiro Suzuki.
News: Boston CF Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-5 against the White Sox on Saturday and was a home run short of hitting for the cycle. Ellsbury singled, doubled and tripled and also scored three times.
Analysis: Ellsbury won't be affected by Mark Kotsay joining the Red Sox. You can expect Ellsbury to play every day and be a solid Fantasy option in most formats
Ellsbury had been mired in a 5-for-32 (.156) slump, so Saturday's performance could be just what he needs to get back on track. For all his run-scoring prowess, Ellsbury hadn't scored three times in a game since May 21. With 78 times across the plate, Ellsbury could reach 100 with a great September.
A timely breakout for Ellsbury, who'd gone just 3-for-19 (.157) in his previous four contests. Don't be surprised to see the rookie outfielder pick up the pace in the weeks ahead, as he posted strong numbers last fall and seems to be gradually rediscovering his groove atop a resilient Red Sox lineup.
News: The Red Sox acquired OF Mark Kotsay from the Braves in exchange for OF Luis Sumoza on Wednesday.
Analysis: Kotsay is more of a defender than hitter and will work in a rotation with Coco Crisp and Jacoby Ellsbury between center and right field with J.D. Drew (back) on the DL. Kotsay will be nothing more than a deeper AL-only option down the stretch as a part-time player. Ellsbury won't sit very much, so Crisp might sit more. Consider Ellsbury a solid start in mixed league down the stretch and Crisp nothing more than a deeper Rotisserie option
