News: The Sports Xchange notes that Jarrod Washburn apparently will be staying with the Mariners. There had been suggestions out of Chicago that the injury-hampered White Sox might have been interested in trading for Washburn, but the Sox are now saying they'll fill from within the organization.
Analysis: Washburn's contract might have been a disincentive; he's due to make $10.35 million next season. He's also lost three straight and four of his last five. He he remains an AL-only option while stuck on the Mariners. His next start is scheduled for Monday at the White Sox

It wasn't as pretty as the box score may look, as Washburn was tagged for an additional three runs over the unearned variety. The 34-year-old birthday boy, who has now lost three straight starts, will look to do better when he takes his 4.58 ERA to the cozy U.S. Cellular Field for a tough matchup with the White Sox next.

News: Mariners SP Jarrod Washburn continued to look like a good pitcher in a bad situation Tuesday at the Angels, allowing four runs -- one earned -- on seven hits in seven innings. He also recorded three strikeouts. He suffered the loss, though, falling to 5-12.
Analysis: Washburn has now lost three straight and four of his last five. He has a 3.73 ERA over that five-start stretch, though, so he clearly hasn't gotten the run support he needs. Until the Mariners manage to trade him to a contender, he remains an AL-only option. His next start is scheduled for Monday at the White Sox
