Scott Garbarini, of The Sports Network, reports Chicago Cubs SP Jason Marquis has not won in his last five starts. He is 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA during that span.

Three of the hits Marquis surrendered went out of the park, which was surprising considering he had given up just one long ball in his last four starts combined. He had been pitching well in July prior to Sunday, compiling a 2.25 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in three starts. However, before jumping to conclusions going forward be aware of the 5.44 home ERA he'll carry into his next start at Wrigley vs. the Pirates.

Jason Marquis allowed six runs in six innings on Sunday against the Florida Marlins. He walked three and gave up nine hits, three of which were home runs.Marquis is irrelevant in fantasy leagues. Once every five starts or so, he will throw a gem but he is simply to inconsistent to keep on fantasy rosters.

Despite going 0-2 in his last three starts, Marquis has been holding up his end of the bargain for the Cubs. The 29-year-old right-hander has permitted just five earned runs in that 20-inning span, good for a 2.25 ERA. Marquis' 56/41 K/BB ratio doesn't bode particularly well for his future, but feel free to use him when he takes his 4.44 ERA to Wrigley Field for a showdown with the Marlins next.
