He had been rehabbing at Triple-A Las Vegas in hopes of returning as a reliever this season. News: The Sports Xchange reports that Giants SP Jason Schmidt started and pitched one inning on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas against Colorado Springs on Friday. Schmidt allowed no runs, no hits and one walk. He will pitch another inning on Monday for the 51s, then possibly be activated as a reliever for the season's final month.
Analysis: Schmidt has yet to pitch in the majors this season and the fact he'll only be a reliever if he does return means it's safe to ignore him in Fantasy
