The Los Angeles Times reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Jeff Mathis has been confirmed as the starting catcher in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Boston Red Sox.

News: For the first time since July 30, Angels C Jeff Mathis collected multiple hits Saturday against the Rangers. He went 2-for-3 with a strikeout, raising his batting average to .194.
Analysis: Mike Napoli has clearly become the Angels' favored option behind the plate late this season, but Mathis might actually have more upside. Still, considering his batting average, you should just leave him for AL-only leagues in 2009
