Marc Lancaster, of The Tampa Tribune, reports the Tampa Bay Rays have rejected a trade for Florida Marlins OF Jeremy Hermida in exchange for two advanced pitching prospects, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The Marlins were likely asking for two pitchers from the group of SP Jeff Niemann, SP Wade Davis, P Mitch Talbot and SP Jeremy Hellickson.

Tampa Bay Rays RP Jeff Niemann allowed one run on three hits over three innings Saturday, Sept. 27, against the Detroit Tigers, according to The Associated Press. He walked two and struck out five, falling to 2-2 on the season.
