Hairston has been bothered for most of the season with the injury, which originally landed him on the DL on July 17 for nearly two weeks. It's a shame Hairston can't stay healthy, considering he's batting .338 with 15 steals in 18 attempts. Track his progress as he could return to make one last contribution before the season ends.

Nice to see the two-bagger from Hairston, who entered the contest having gone just 2-for-14 (.143) to begin the month. When healthy, the versatile veteran has produced consistently this season, as is evidenced by his .429 average in 42 July at-bats. He's worth a look in all formats if he's able to return to form down the stretch.

Though Hairston believes he's healthy enough to return immediately, the Reds are taking a cautious approach. "Believe me, if it was really up to me, I'd be playing tonight," Hairston said before Thursday's game with the Astros. "But it's not really up to me." The hamstring must hold up when running at full speed if Hairston, who has avoided returning to the disabled list with the injury, is to get back into the Reds lineup.

"I felt it cramp a little bit my last at-bat," Hairston said on Saturday afternoon. "I'm hoping it's just more fatigue than anything." The veteran leadoff man, who's batting .344 with 15 stolen bases in 57 contests this season, isn't expected to play on Sunday, and a return to the DL is possible if there isn't improvement.
