Padres OF Jim Edmonds came into Monday's game against the Astros with no hits in his last four games and just two over his last 23 plate appearances. He took a step toward breaking out of his slump when he hit a solo home run off Roy Oswalt in the second inning -- his first at-bat. Edmonds finished 1-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts.
The Sports Xchange reports that Padres CF Jim Edmonds is in a 2-for-23 slump over his last seven games and has not gotten to balls he has in the past. "It just seems like I can't do anything right right now," said the 37-year-old Edmonds, whose spring training was virtually stopped because of a calf strain (suffered March 6) that forced him to start the regular season on the disabled list. "I'm trying to impress too many people and show people that I can still play. I've just got to calm down and play."
