Braves.MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports Atlanta Braves SP Jo-Jo Reyes turned down advice from Atlanta Braves P John Smoltz and SP Tom Glavine around the All-Star break because it was handicapping his mental process during games.
Reyes showed signs of potential during the first half, but far too few to recommend drafting him in 2009, even if he winds up with a rotation spot.
The AP reports that Ryan Howard's errant throw to second allowed the Braves to tack on three more runs in the fifth inning in Wednesday night's 10-4 loss. Howard went 1-for-4 with a solo home run off of Jo-Jo Reyes. He also struck out for the 196th time this season.Hopefully MVP voters took note. Howard leads the Phillies with 18 errors.
Jo-Jo Reyes allowed three runs and five hits in 3 1/3 innings on Wednesday as the Braves defeated Philadelphia 10-4.The left-hander was 0-7 with a 7.79 ERA in his previous 12 appearances.
