Still, it's obvious the Indians must at least listen to offers for Shoppach (Martinez, a team leader and two-time All-Star, probably won't be moved). The Red Sox, Marlins and Astros are among the teams who need catching help.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer speculates that the Indians may consider keeping Victor Martinez at catcher and trading Kelly Shoppach. Shoppach's value has never been higher and the newspaper suggests that the Indians might look to shop him for a young pitcher like Justin Masterson of the Red Sox. Shoppach was originally drafted by the Red Sox before being traded to the Indians in the Coco Crisp deal and Boston will be looking for a new catcher if Jason Varitek doesn't re-sign.Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer Related: Victor Martinez, Justin Masterson, Red Sox

Kelly Shoppach or Victor Martinez might end up wearing another uniform next season as the Indians are considering trading one of their backstops to bolster their bullpen or infield, according to The Plain Dealer.The Indians certainly need bullpen help, but with the health of Travis Hafner completely up in the air, why don't the Indians just stick Martinez at first and allow Shoppach to catch? If either backstop is moved, they will likely bring a bounty in return.
