Greg Cote, of The Miami Herald, reports Florida Marlins RP Kevin Gregg will not be returning to the team next season.
The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports Florida Marlins CL Kevin Gregg ripped the organization. ''It's an organization that doesn't want to spend the money,'' Gregg said.
It is possible that Marlins reliever Kevin Gregg will be playing his last season in Florida, according to the Miami Herald. "It's an organization that doesn't want to spend the money," Gregg said.Gregg is not a free agent, but made $2.5 million this season, and could see a significant raise if headed to arbitration.
The Palm Beach Post reports that Matt Lindstrom drew praise on Wednesday from the man who's closer's job he took, Kevin Gregg. "Stormy (as Lindstrom is known) is very capable of closing. Hes got the stuff to do it. I truly believe in his ability. Now its just learning the intangibles," Gregg said today. "We always sit out in the bullpen and talk pitching situations."Lindstrom has converted his last four save opportunities. Hes a good bet to keep the closers job next year if the Marlins determine that Gregg, who could get $4 million through arbitration, is not in their budget plans. "If Stormy shows he can pitch, which I think he is going to - hes got unbelievable stuff - then the dynamics of this team come down to, are you going to bring me back to set up making what Im making this year? I dont know." If Lindstrom is still on waivers, snag him for some closer's production while you can and keep him in mind for 2009.
