The Associated Press’ Dan Gelston reports Philadelphia Phillies P Kyle Kendrick will not be on the team’s NLDS roster. However, he will continue pitching in the Florida instructional league to remain loose in the event the Phillies need an extra arm should they advance. “I understand,” said Kendrick. “I need to go down and stay fresh.”

News: Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick, trying to make a statement for next season after getting removed from the rotation this season, gave up three runs on four hits in four innings Sunday in a start against the Nationals. He recorded one strikeout and didn't factor in the decision.

Analysis: Kendrick's awful second half of the season (11.35 ERA in his last six starts) got him bumped off the NLDS roster. He'll pitch in the Florida instructional league and stay fresh in case the Phillies need another arm if they advance in the playoffs. At age 24, he still might have a future in the rotation, but considering his lack of knockout stuff, you shouldn't be waiting with bated breath to see if he secures a spot next spring. He should go widely undrafted in 2009

News: Kyle Kendrick will start in place of Cole Hamels on Sunday against the Nationals. Hamels presumably will pitch the playoff opener.

Analysis: You shouldn't own Kendrick in Fantasy right now unless you have a need for a no-strikeout middle reliever. He might enter next season as a starter, but he wouldn't have much Fantasy value even then

Kyle Kendrick will not be on the Phillies' playoff roster but he will head to their instructional league to keep sharp should they need to add him according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.Seems like a good move for the Phillies. They would rather not have to call upon the player who started 29 games and carried a 5.46 ERA throughout 2008.
