Mike Scarr, of MLB.com, reports the Toronto Blue Jays are interested in trading 1B Lyle Overbay to the Seattle Mariners. However, the Mariners do not seem to be very interested, according to The Tacoma News Tribune. The Blue Jays would even be willing to pick up some of the $14 million that Overbay is owed through 2010.
The Blue Jays are trying to upgrade their offense this winter and first base is an area that the club can address. Since having his right hand broken by a pitch midway through the 2007 season, Overbay's offensive numbers, especially his power production, have declined.
The Blue Jays would reportedly like to deal Lyle Overbay to the Mariners, and are willing to eat some of his salary, according to the Seattle Times. The Mariners previously turned down a deal at the trade deadline involving Overbay and Jason Frasor for Raul Ibanez. It remains to be seen if the two sides can agree on a deal this time around.

Overbay turned in an inconsistent campaign in '08, though he was still hampered some by the right hand he broke a season earlier. At 30, he's young enough to bat .300 again, but his time is running out in Toronto.
