Mark Lowe was recalled by the Mariners from Triple-A Tacoma today. He has not been with the big club for the last week due to a foot injury.Lowe has appeared in 50 games this year and has one save, but his value rests in deep formats.

Mariners recalled RHP Mark Lowe from Triple-A Tacoma. Lowe, still bothered by a bruised foot, didn't pitch at all after being sent down on Aug. 25. As an injured player, he shouldn't have optioned out in the first place. However, since the quick recall means he will get credit for the service time he would have missed, it's not a huge deal.

News: On Monday, Seattle optioned RP Mark Lowe to Triple-A Tacoma two days after he was in the left foot by a ball off the bat of Oakland's Frank Thomas. RP Randy Messenger was promoted from Tacoma. Messenger pitched a scoreless top of the ninth. Mariners manager Jim Riggleman said the team expects to have Lowe, who is unavailable for the next few days, back when rosters expand for September next week.

Analysis: Lowe has some value in deeper AL-only leagues as a middle reliever, but neither he nor Messenger matters much to the vast majority of Fantasy owners. Ignore them

Reliever Randy Messenger was recalled by the Seattle Mariners from their Triiple-A club, taking the roster spot of Mark Lowe, who was sent down, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.Messenger has not pitched in the big leagues this season, but was not fantasy worthy in 2007, and remains that way in 2008.

Mariners optioned RHP Mark Lowe to Triple-A Tacoma. The Mariners are trying to get away with optioning a pitcher who was on crutches yesterday after taking a comebacker off his foot during Saturday's game. If he's still injured -- and all indications are that he is -- then he should be on the DL collecting a major league salary and service time. Besides, that way the Mariners could potentially gain extra flexibility for their postseason roster.
