According to his agents, Matt Herges has had his $2.5 million option bought out by the Rockies. He'll receive a $250,000 buyout. Herges had his ERA jump from 2.96 to 5.04 and his WHIP increase from 1.01 to 1.60 this year, so it wasn't a tough call for the Rockies.Source: Denver Post

The Denver Post reports that the Rockies declined picking up Matt Herges' option for next season.The veteran right-hander went 3-4 with a 5.04 ERA in 58 games in 2008.

Troy E. Renck, of The Denver Post, reports the Colorado Rockies declined the $2.5 million option on RP Matt Herges Tuesday, Oct. 7. The team has exercised a $250,000 buyout, according to a representative from the Beverly Hills Sports Council. Herges can still re-sign with the team as a free agent.
