Rockies manager Clint Hurdle revealed that Holliday tweaked his back while making a play in the outfield Friday, and when the slugger showed up to the ballpark Saturday, he was still in enough discomfort to be taken out of the lineup. "He got here today, and he wasn't comfortable," Hurdle said. "We'll probably have to give him today, tomorrow and then the off-day Monday before re-evaluating him." Holliday had started 88 consecutive games dating back to June 10 before getting a breather Monday. Hurdle said he was not aware of any pain in Holliday's back prior to Saturday. Holliday has had another incredible year at the plate, but his production has dipped in September. In 15 games, the three-time All-Star is hitting .233 with one home run, six RBIs and 13 strikeouts in 60 at-bats.

News: Rockies OF Matt Holliday was scratched Saturday with a minor back injury. Holliday was injured during Colorado's 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. "He tweaked his back yesterday during the game," manager Clint Hurdle said. "What I heard was making a play in the outfield. I put the lineup up, by the time he got here today he was not comfortable." Hurdle said Holliday, the runner-up to Jimmy Rollins in the 2007 NL MVP voting, probably won't play until Tuesday, when the Rockies start a three-game series in San Francisco. "We'll probably have to give him today and tomorrow, the off day Monday, and re-evaluate him," Hurdle said before Colorado's game against Arizona.
Analysis: Holliday is third in the National League with a .323 batting average. He is tied for the team lead with 25 homers, and has 84 RBI and 27 stolen bases. He remains a must-start outfielder in all Fantasy leagues, when healthy but this injury could cut into the last week of the season for him. Continue to check in through the rest of the weekend and if it looks like Holliday will be able to play on Tuesday, then go ahead and start him without worry
