According to The Sports Xchange notes: Officially, the Marlins have a platoon arrangement behind the plate. But unofficially, Matt Treanor is emerging as the team's main catcher. Treanor is hitting .339 this month (20-for-59) in 16 games, making it tough to keep his bat out of the lineup. Mike Rabelo, who is batting .154 in May, has started three of Florida's past 15 games. Through April, Treanor hit .214 in his first 12 games -- with just five starts -- while Rabelo hit .255 in 15 games through that same period. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said he feels comfortable using both catchers. But Treanor's hot bat has coincided this month with Florida's surge in the standings, making it unlikely his playing time will decrease anytime soon. Treanor, who came into the season with a .236 career average, was hitting .287 (29 for 101).
The Palm Beach Post reports that Marlins C Matt Treanor has been earning his extensive playing time of late. He is batting .339 this month with 11 RBI, making it tough to keep his bat out of the lineup.
