The Cubs optioned Micah Hoffpauir to Triple-A Iowa Tuesday. Hoffpauir has hit .400 in 35 at-bats in his two stints with the big club this year.Hoffpauir couldn't have done much more to show the Cubs he should stick around, but Daryl Ward was ready to come off the DL, and Micah was deemed expendable.

The Sports Xchange notes that INF/OF Micah Hoffpauir picked up his first major league RBI with a pinch single in the eighth inning of Thursday night's 8-4 victory over Colorado. Hoffpauir and CF Reed Johnson also pulled off a double steal. It was Hoffpauir's first stolen base.
