If Owings had trouble pitching in Arizona, things could get worse in Cincinnati, home to the cozy confines of Great American Ball Park? Curbing his home run tendencies will be absolutely crucial in 2009.

The Reds top priority for the off-season is to acquire a productive right-handed hitter, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. They already do have one on their roster with Micah Owings, who is a career .319 hitter and registers an RBI in every 5.5 at-bats.He is such a good hitter that the team has discussed using him in the outfield on days he is not pitching. He could hold strong fantasy value as a two-way player next season, but is most likely just going to stick with pitching.

Cincinnati Reds P Micah Owings is 5-for-16 in pinch-hitting situations this year, and 2-for-2 since being traded to the Reds from the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to The Associated Press.
News: A day after first putting on his Cincinnati uniform, former Diamondback Micah Owings doubled in the deciding run in the 10th inning to give the Reds a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over fading Arizona. The Diamondbacks have lost 13 of their past 17. Owings was the "player to be named" in the deal that sent slugger Adam Dunn to the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Owings is a big bat who happens to be a pitcher. His Fantasy value is limited down the stretch, especially if he cannot pitch. He could get a start before the end of the season, though. Come spring 2009, he will likely be in the Reds' rotation behind Edinson Volquez, Aaron Harang, Bronson Arroyo and Johnny Cueto
