News: Even though he had one of his best starts of an otherwise dreadful season Monday, RHP Miguel Batista will not be in Seattle's rotation the next time around. LHP Jarrod Washburn, RHP Felix Hernandez and RHP Carlos Silva, in a return from the DL, will pitch in the weekend series at Cleveland.

Analysis: Batista is a veteran to cut and ignored in all Fantasy leagues down the stretch. He had his chance and now the Mariners are going to take a look at younger options for 2009. Batista is no better than a high-risk spot starter or low-end middle reliever for the deepest of AL-only leagues now and beyond

Despite tossing six innings of one-run ball in his last start Monday, Miguel Batista has been moved back to the bullpen. With an off day Thursday and September roster expansion set to include Brandon Morrow joining the rotation, the Mariners have decided they've seen enough of Batista as a starter. "It's just the nature of how things happen," manager Jim Riggleman said. "The way he pitched for us [Monday] is a nice way to go into 2009." Riggleman is apparently a big believer in the George Costanza theory of leaving on a high note.Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer
