Joe Capozzi, of The Palm Beach Post, reports Florida Marlins 1B Mike Jacobs could be dealt in the offseason. The team is looking to make changes in the offseason, which could involve trading power hitters for players that reach base frequently.
That's three straight multi-hit efforts for Jacobs, who's crossed the plate four times while plating seven runs in that stretch. The 27-year-old first baseman is swinging the bat as well as practically any slugger in the bigs of late, as he sports a .333 average with a .648 slugging percentage in 54 September at-bats.
Steven Wine, of The Associated Press, reports Florida Marlins 1B Mike Jacobs drove in four runs Friday, Sept. 19.
News: The Sports Xchange notes that Mike Jacobs needs one more home run to tie Carlos Delgado's 2005 club record for homers by a left-handed hitter (33).
Analysis: Jacobs has a good shot Friday when the Marlins face Phillies RHP Brett Myers. Jacobs is 10-for-28 (.357) with two home runs and four doubles against Myers. He might be hitting under .250, but Jacobs has 30-plus homers and 85-plus RBI. Consider him a sleeper for deeper leagues when he is going well
Nice to see Jacobs getting back into the swing of things, as he'd gone just 1-for-12 with a lone RBI over his previous four contests. While he maintains a somewhat inconsistent source of production, the 27-year-old slugger entered Wednesday's affair with a .628 slugging percentage through 43 September at-bats, leaving owners little choice but to keep him as a fixture in their lineups.
None.
