Florida 1B Mike Jacobs (finger) and LF Josh Willingham (back) are expected to return to the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers, manager Fredi Gonzalez said. Jacobs received a cortisone shot Wednesday and has missed the last three games.
According to The Sports Xchange notes: 1B Mike Jacobs might not start until Friday because of a sprained right middle finger that he suffered during a swing Saturday. He was hoping he would be ready after Monday's off day but was scratched from Tuesday's lineup. Wes Helms made the start. Jacobs pinch-hit in the ninth inning, striking out to end the game, which Florida lost 7-6 to the Dodgers. "It's kind of a nagging thing," said Jacobs, who has agreed with manager Fredi Gonzalez and trainers that it's best for him to take time off when he feels the pain flare. "I think we're turning a corner."
