Timlin makes rehab appearance

According to the Boston Globe, Red Sox reliever Mike Timlin pitched a clean eighth inning versus Richmond on Thursday night. Timlin on a rehab assignment, will pitch three or four one-inning stints for the PawSox before rejoining the team next week.Timlin isn't the pitcher he once was, and when he was at his best his fantasy value rested in deep leagues that rewarded holds. The right-hander looked incredibly hittable in his last outing vs. Philadelphia before going on the disable list. It's hard to believe that will change anytime soon.

Mike Timlin began his rehab assignment on Thursday as he threw 10 pitches to retire the order in an inning of work, according to the Providence Journal.Reports had Timlin touching 92 mph on the gun, a good sign that his knee is in good shape. However, Timlin is still virtually useless in fantasy leagues and not likely to do much but take up space once activated by the Bo Sox.

Mike Timlin, out with left knee tendinitis, is on pace to make an appearance in Triple-A for the Pawtucket Sox on Thursday, with a targeted return date of July 4th if everything goes well, according to MLB.com. "He'll throw an inning tomorrow night in Pawtucket and go from there," said manager Terry Francona.Timlin has been awful this year with a 7.06 ERA and 1.85 WHIP, so he isn't even worth rostering in AL Only leagues at this point even when healthy.
