Scott Merkin, of MLB.com, reports Chicago White Sox OF Nick Swisher is expected to earn a starting spot in center field in 2009.

The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports the Chicago White Sox could trade 1B Paul Konerko and move OF Nick Swisher to first base. Konerko has two years and $24 million left on his deal while Swisher is owed $22.05 million over three years.

Chris De Luca, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago White Sox OF Nick Swisher, who will become a free agent after the 2008 season, will likely return for the 2009 season.

Swisher's first year on the South Side was probably his worst in the bigs. An abysmal second-half performance (.191 AVG) gives fantasy owners little reason for optimism, either. A slow start could open the door for Brian Anderson or Dewayne Wise to steal time in center field.
