Bill Plunkett, of The Orange County Register, reports the Los Angeles Dodgers have spoken with free-agent IF Nomar Garciaparra (Dodgers), but are unsure if he will consider retirement in the offseason.

Garciaparra's third season as a Dodger was limited to 55 games by injuries, which have led the six-time All-Star to consider retirement. The 35-year-old Garciaparra has a congenital condition that manufactures excess scar tissue and requires constant treatment. It's unclear whether the Dodgers plan to retain any of the three players.

Tony Jackson, of the Los Angeles Daily News, reports the Los Angeles Dodgers have begun preliminary contract negotiations with IF Nomar Garciaparra, according to general manager Ned Colletti.
