News: Braves utility player Omar Infante, who was hitting as high as .317 as late as Sept. 3, went 1-for-4 Thursday against the Phillies, lowering his batting average to .296. He's batting .154 (6-for-39) over his last 11 games.
Analysis: Infante plays virtually every day and qualifies virtually everywhere, making him an appealing option in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues. Now doesn't seem like the time to start him, though, especially considering his lack of power. Don't plan to draft him entering 2009 either. He might not have an everyday job
News: Kelly Johnson and Omar Infante had four hits each and combined to drive in six runs in Atlanta's 16-14 win Tuesday over Florida.
Analysis: Infante has a solid bat and great versatility for Fantasy owners, so consider him a solid option in deeper formats down the stretch -- albeit mostly NL-only leagues
Infante got the start at third base as Chipper Jones was a late scratch with a tweaked right knee. There's a pretty decent chance that Chipper might miss a couple games, so Infante and his .317 season average are worth a temporary look in NL-only leagues.
Antonio Gonzalez, of The Associated Press, reports Atlanta Braves 2B Omar Infante recorded four hits and two RBIs Tuesday, Sept. 2.
News: Braves 2B Omar Infante had a RBI single and two hits in three at-bats during Sunday's game against the Nationals. He scored once and walked once as well. Infante is 7-for-17 (.412) with three RBI during a four-game hitting streak.
Analysis: Infante played a lot over the weekend against the Nationals and has managed to see a fair amount of at-bats in August because he has been productive at the dish. Still, he is best left as a low-end Fantasy option
