Twins.MLB.com's Kelly Thesier reports Minnesota Twins SP Philip Humber is out of minor league options.
Twins.MLB.com's David Singh reports the Minnesota Twins recalled P Philip Humber from Triple-A Rochester.
News: The Twins purchased the contract of C Ryan Jorgensen from Triple-A Rochester, recalled RHP Bobby Korecky, RHP Philip Humber, 3B Matt Macri and OF Jason Pridie from Rochester. Also, they recalled LHP Jose Mijares from Double-A New Britain activated infielder Matt Tolbert from the 15-day DL on Monday.
Analysis: Humber, an early pick in the famed 2004 pitcher draft, struggled in the first half, was moved to the bullpen and finished much better. He will get a look in relief down the stretch and perhaps in the rotation next spring. Consider him nothing more than a high-risk spot starter or a middle reliever for the deepest of AL-only leagues that use true middle men down the stretch
Twins recalled RHP Philip Humber from Triple-A Rochester. Humber gets the call over Kevin Mulvey, but there's little doubt which pitcher the Twins value more. Humber had a 4.48 ERA in 23 starts and a 5.40 ERA in eight relief appearances for Rochester. He did finish strong, going 6-1 with a 2.67 ERA after the break. Still, the Twins aren't about to add him to their rotation. He'll probably be a mop-up man.
News: The Twins plan to add relievers Bobby Korecky, Phillip Humber and Jose Mijares and four other reinforcements from the minors for the stretch run.
Analysis: Humber is a decent pitching prospect acquired from the Mets in the Johan Santana deal, but he won't have much Fantasy value working in middle relief. Korecky and Mijares are both natural relievers and shouldn't make much of an impact either
