Brewers signed LHP R.J. Swindle, who had been with the Phillies, to a one-year contract. Terms weren't announced, but it's almost surely a split contact with Swindle earning close to the major league minimum if he makes the team. Swindle, 25, had a 1.53 ERA and a 67/8 K/BB ratio in 53 innings between Double- and Triple-A last season, allowing just one homer in the process. However, in his brief stint in the majors, he gave up two homers in 4 2/3 innings. Swindle has excellent control and a slow curveball that stands out as one of the game's more unusual pitches. Unfortunately, the velocity just isn't there. He's probably never going to be particularly useful.
News: The Brewers signed LHP R.J. Swindle to a one-year contract Tuesday.
Analysis: Swindle is nothing more than a low-end middle reliever for the deepest of NL-only leagues that use true middle men. Ignore him on Draft Day. He is still a long shot to make the team
Pitcher R.J. Swindle signed with the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, according to the Brewers official web site.Swindle only appeared in two games for the Phillies last year and doesn't have any fantasy value.

Swindle's agent said the Brewers were among three teams interested in him, including the Philadelphia Phillies.
