News: Dodgers manager Joe Torre said Saturday that SS Rafael Furcal could be back by the end of the season.
Analysis: Furcal, who underwent back surgery July 3, is hitting .366 in 32 games. Furcal is a free agent at the end of the season, but he said he wouldn't rush back for the sake of raising his stock. His Fantasy owners wouldn't exactly mind if that's the case, though

The Los Angeles Times reports that Rafael Furcal could be activated in the upcoming week for the Dodgers. He is taking grounders and running full speed.Manager Joe Torre cautioned that nobody should expect him to come back and play every day, given how much time he missed. In the final weeks of September, however, expect Furcal to play enough to have some fantasy impact.

Furcal, who's been out since May 5, said he's 80 to 85 percent better. The shortstop is running full speed, a breakthrough in his rehab that has him on track to return sooner than expected. He batted .366 with five homers, 16 RBIs and eight steals in 32 games before getting injured, so he could be a significant addition down the stretch.
